What Makes It Special?

This museum was established to preserve and promote the history, traditions, and cultural expressions of Iztapalapa, from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Its name pays homage to the Fuego Nuevo ceremony, held every 52 years on Cerro de la Estrella.

In addition to its exhibition halls, the museum features a research center, art workshops, and a community space. It is part of a broader project to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the city’s eastern district.
