AREA

What Makes It Special?

Founded by the artist Rufino Tamayo, this museum combines bold architecture, a world-class international art collection, and temporary exhibitions featuring the most innovative works of contemporary art.

Did You Know…?

Tamayo donated his own collection of modern art to the people of Mexico, including works by Picasso, Miró, Magritte, Rothko, and Bacon. The building was designed by Teodoro González de León and Abraham Zabludovsky, and is a masterpiece in its own right.

Don’t Miss

Check their schedule before you go: there are always thought-provoking exhibitions, immersive installations, or pieces that play with sound, space, and perception. It’s also worth exploring their gift shop and sitting for a while in the lobby to soak up the art.
