Chapultepec Castle – National Museum of History

A castle offering a glimpse into Mexico's glorious past

AREA

What Makes It Special?

It is the only royal castle in the Americas. From its summit, you not only overlook the city, but you also take a journey through history: the Viceroyalty, Independence, the Reformation, the Empire, the Revolution… all in one place.

Did You Know…?

The castle served as the residence of Maximilian and Charlotte, the headquarters of the Military Academy, and the official residence of presidents. Today, in addition to its museum galleries, it still houses original furniture, stained-glass windows, carriages, and a European-style garden with spectacular views.

Don’t Miss

Head up to the Alcázar and admire the murals by Orozco, Siqueiros, and González Camarena. The view from the main terrace is one of the most unforgettable sights in Mexico City.
