What Makes It Special?

Few experiences can compare to walking along the Avenue of the Dead, between the majestic Pyramid of the Sun and the imposing Pyramid of the Moon. Teotihuacán was one of the largest cities of the ancient world, and even today it exudes an aura of power, silence, and mystery.

The Mexicas were not the builders of Teotihuacán: when they arrived, the ruins were already there, and they regarded them as the work of the gods. The name literally means “the place where men become gods.”

Don’t Miss

Arrive early to avoid the crowds and take the opportunity to climb the Pyramids as the sun rises. If possible, take a guided tour or use an audio guide to understand the symbols, tunnels, and hidden paintings. There are several entrance gates, but Gate 1 is ideal if you want to start at the Main Avenue.

How to Get There

Public buses from the North Terminal (Mexico City) – approx. 1 hour. Turibus / Turitour, from central locations in Mexico City (such as the National Auditorium or the Angel of Independence)

Taxis from Sitios, Uber, or DiDi from anywhere in Mexico City

Take the Mexico-Pachuca highway and follow the signs to the archaeological site. There is a toll booth along the way.

The best options depend on your budget and comfort level. The trip takes about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic.
