Lázaro Cárdenas Presidential House Museum

The modest residence of a president who is close to the people

AREA

What Makes It Special?

It was the home of General Lázaro Cárdenas during his term as President of Mexico (1934–1940). Unlike the grand palaces, this modest house reflects his frugality, values, and closeness to the people.

Did You Know…?

After his presidency, Lázaro Cárdenas donated the house to the government to be turned into a museum. The furniture, personal belongings, and documents remain almost intact, preserving an intimate portrait of the president and his era.

Don’t Miss

Combine it with a visit to Chapultepec Castle, the Natural History Museum, or the Tamayo Museum. It’s very close to all of them and often goes unnoticed.
