What Makes It Special?

This community museum is located in the heart of the chinampa district and is dedicated to preserving Xochimilco’s floral traditions. It pays tribute to the ancestral knowledge of the edible, medicinal, and ornamental flowers grown in the chinampas, as well as to their cultural significance in the identity of the southern part of the city.

Did You Know…?

Chinampaxochitl means “flower of the chinampa” in Nahuatl, reflecting the importance of this ancient agricultural practice. The museum offers tours, workshops, natural products for sale, and environmental education activities right among the canals and gardens of Xochimilco.

Don’t Miss

The axolotl, a famous amphibian unique to the region and endangered, is on display at the museum for visitors to see up close.
