Housed in a former 17th-century Carmelite convent, this museum offers a unique experience that blends historic architecture, spiritual history, and wooded surroundings. In addition to cells, tunnels, and chapels, it features a collection of taxidermy specimens, religious artifacts, and temporary exhibitions.

Did You Know…?

Although the name may be misleading, there is no desert or lions here. The term “Desierto” referred to a place of spiritual retreat, and “Leones” comes from the surname of the land’s former owners. The museum is celebrating the bicentennial of Independence with exhibits on monastic life and nature.
