What Makes It Special?

This historic building not only houses the Ministry of Public Education, but also preserves one of the most important treasures of Mexican mural art: Diego Rivera’s frescoes, which are displayed throughout various courtyards and hallways and depict the history of social struggle and daily life in post-revolutionary Mexico.

Did You Know…?

Diego Rivera painted more than 100 murals in this building between 1923 and 1928, including his famous panel “El Arsenal,” which features Frida Kahlo. It is one of the largest mural complexes in the country.

Admission to the building is free, allowing you to take your time exploring the murals. We recommend setting aside enough time to take in every detail, especially the panels on the staircases and in the interior courtyards.
