What Makes It Special?

With more than 1.5 million specimens, the National Herbarium of Mexico is one of the largest in Latin America. It preserves the country’s plant diversity in an impressive collection of dried plants that are used for scientific research, education, and conservation.

Did You Know…?

This herbarium was founded in 1929 and is part of the UNAM Institute of Biology. Its specimens are consulted by experts from around the world to study Mexican biodiversity and its evolution.

Although it is not open to the general public, you can request educational guided tours and participate in special activities during science fairs or outreach events.

How to Get There

University (Yellow Line 3) – transfer to Pumabús (Route 3 or 7) to Universum

CCU Line 1 – 15-minute walk

Botanical Garden (PUMABUS) – 2-minute walk

Internal access via Pumabús from the Universidad Metro station. No Ecobici service available.
