What Makes It Special?

It was conceived by Diego Rivera as a modern temple to honor pre-Hispanic art. It is built of volcanic stone and filled with Mexica symbolism. It is one of the city’s most enigmatic and powerful museums.

Did You Know…?

Rivera conceived the Anahuacalli as part of a larger artistic complex alongside the Casa Azul. On display here are more than 2,000 pre-Hispanic artifacts from his personal collection, as well as sketches of his murals and historical documents.
