Cárcamo de Dolores Museum

Where water and Rivera's art flow underground

AREA

What Makes It Special?

It is an underground, sensory museum that brings together art, water, and memory. Here you’ll find a unique mural by Diego Rivera, painted to accompany the flow of the river through the city.

Did You Know…?

The mural “Water, the Source of Life” was designed to be viewed as water flowed through the Lerma system. Today, although the water no longer flows, the artwork remains a powerful tribute to the relationship between humanity and nature.

Don’t Miss

Be sure to visit the Tláloc Fountain, located just outside the museum, another monumental work by Rivera. Wear comfortable shoes, as the Cárcamo is located deep in the woods and is often poorly marked.
