What Makes It Special?

This temple, restored in the 1960s, shows what a typical Mexica pyramid in the Mexico Basin looked like. Unlike other sites, its main structure was reconstructed based on archaeological evidence, offering a visually striking and educational experience.

Did You Know…?

The temple is dedicated to the god Tláloc and was one of the few ceremonial centers to partially survive the conquest. At the site museum, you can see clay figurines, carved stones, and everyday objects used by the ancient inhabitants of Acatitlán.

This is a great place for those looking for less crowded spots that are rich in history. The architectural reconstruction was led by Eduardo Pareyón Moreno, one of the pioneers of urban archaeology in Mexico.

How to Get There

The nearest station with public transportation access is El Rosario Metro Station (Lines 6 and 7). From there, at the north bus stop, you can take minibuses or buses marked "Santa Cecilia" or "Tenayuca-Santa Cecilia."

You can go to the Tenayuca terminal (Metrobús Line 3) and take a taxi or a shared taxi from there to Santa Cecilia. The trip is short (about 10–15 minutes).

Via Calzada Vallejo / Eje 100 Metros: This is the most efficient route from Mexico City. Follow Eje Central (Cien Metros) all the way north. Once you pass the Tenayuca area, continue on Calzada Santa Cecilia (an extension of Vallejo), which will take you directly to the town of Santa Cecilia.

A small but interesting place, perfect to combine with Tenayuca on the same trip.
