José Luis Cuevas Museum

A convent transformed in the mind of an artist

AREA

What Makes It Special?

This museum is an extension of the soul of the artist José Luis Cuevas. It brings together his work, his obsessions, and his legacy within a colonial convent that has been transformed into a cultural space.

Did You Know…?

The museum was opened by Cuevas himself in 1992. In the main courtyard stands “La Giganta,” a monumental sculpture that has been a symbol of the place ever since.

Don’t Miss

In addition to the permanent galleries, the museum often features exhibitions by contemporary artists. It is an intimate space, with unexpected nooks and crannies and an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you’re inside the artist’s studio.
