What Makes It Special?

This museum was established to preserve the monumental mural “Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in the Alameda Central,” painted by Diego Rivera in 1947. The work offers a visual journey through the history, social commentary, and characters of modern Mexico.

Did You Know…?

The mural originally adorned the Hotel del Prado, but it was salvaged and moved stone by stone after the 1985 earthquake. It features figures ranging from Hernán Cortés and Porfirio Díaz to La Catrina, Frida Kahlo, and Diego himself as a child.
